Rotary Switzerland provides emergency aid after the landslide in Blatten
Blatten, July 30, 2025 - The Rotary Foundation Switzerland has collected around 300,000 Swiss francs in donations in the wake of the devastating landslide in Blatten. The aim of this solidarity campaign is to support local companies that have not suffered any direct material damage but are facing considerable liquidity bottlenecks due to the limited accessibility of their businesses.
At the Rotary meeting on July 29, 2025, the first emergency aid in the amount of 133,000 Swiss francs was awarded to affected companies, which could already be paid out on June 23. This support is intended to help secure the economic existence of the companies until access to the region is fully restored.
A special contribution comes from the Rotary Club Leuk-Leukerbad, which has contributed 30,000 francs to the total donation amount. In addition to the affected companies, the Fafleralp music society, whose activities have been severely restricted by the events, is also receiving support.
"Rotary stands for active solidarity and rapid assistance in times of crisis. With this campaign, we want to set an example and give the people in Blatten courage and perspective," said a spokesperson for the Rotary Foundation Switzerland.
